Muthoot Finance Ltd., the non-bank lender based out of Kerala, informed the exchanges on Friday, March 14, that the Assets Under Management (AUM) of its gold loan business, has crossed ₹1 lakh crore.

At the end of the December quarter, the AUM of Muthoot Finance’s gold loan business stood at ₹92,964 crore, which was a growth of 34.3% year-on-year and 7.9% when compared to the previous quarter.

Overall AUM for Muthoot Finance at the end of the December quarter had grown by 37% year-on-year to ₹97,487 crore. Gold business forms a majority of Muthoot Finance’s overall AUM.

Muthoot Finance was in the spotlight on Thursday after one of its units, Muthoot Insurance brokers informed the parent company of a fraud by the subsidiary’s CEO and a former Muthoot Finance employee.

The fraud, worth ₹11.92 crore, took place between April 2023 and November 2024, and pertained to misappropriation of rewards received from insurance companies.

Shares of Muthoot Finance had recovered from the day’s low on Thursday but ended with losses of 0.8% at ₹2,191. The stock is 6% away from its 52-week high.
