For Mike Farrugia, one of our trusted appraisers, the 1986 Caprice Classic is more than a car — it’s a connection to the past.

At 17, Mike’s first car was a worn ’86 Caprice. It had rust, high mileage, and no A/C — but it was reliable and full of memories. After driving it over 420,000 km, he let it go but always wanted another.

Exactly 21 years later, he found the one. Tired but solid, the Caprice had a rare history. Originally sold in Texas, it belonged to Stan Lukich, who brought it to Ontario but couldn’t drive due to health issues. Stan insisted it be parked where he could see it daily. After his passing, the family held onto the car until 2021.

Mike took over and brought “Stan’s Chevy” back to life. He handled the mechanical work, painted it himself, and restored every detail using NOS parts and re-chromed trim. Today, it lives a quiet life in his garage, used for shows and weekend drives — complete with working ice-cold A/C.

It’s a fitting ride for someone who knows how to spot a classic.
